Rotating Night Light
The rotating night light was a final project for an electro-mechanical course where the objective was to create a public art display with a sensor and actuator. Given a dark environment, the structure would turn on a light and spin the decorated box. A light sensor filtered raw data to an Arduino that served as a client and reported smooth readings to an actuator that was controlled by a Raspberry Pi server. The Arduino and Raspberry Pi communicated over the internet and ultimately turned on the LED lights and rotated a dc motor according to the light sensor cues. The project was successful and I gained valuable experience with troubleshooting coding issues and overall product development as I saw the project through from initial sketch to final design and testing.
